Founded in Unawatuna in 2018 by Danushka Udayanga and Natasha Sand, The Hideout started from a shared love of good food, creative spaces and the kind of places people want to stay a little longer.

Inspired by the bold flavours and relaxed spirit of Mexican food, we began exploring how naturally it could work with Sri Lankan ingredients, spices and cooking traditions.

That became the idea behind The Hideout: a laid-back Mexican taqueria and bar with a Sri Lankan soul.

Our kitchen focuses on fresh local produce, homemade sauces, Mexican-inspired flavours and food made from scratch. At the bar, it’s all about fresh cocktails, frozen margaritas and drinks made for tropical evenings.

What started as a small idea has grown into a place for tacos, music, friends and good times in the heart of Unawatuna.
